Power Mommies
(A poem for all of the power mommies on the White House Project)

Our days are long, the thanks are few but there is something special about what we do,
We wake up at the crack of dawn; pray for wisdom and guidance so we can make it through.
We fax our bid, finish a dozen emails and whip up breakfast and yeah--sometimes burn the toast.
We change many diapers, pack up backpacks while we answer calls from coast to coast.

We are power mommies, that is what we do,
We are power mommies, through and through.

We glance at our Outlook, while we read the latest report,
But our focus stays constant while our sons play on their fort.
We never set an appointment without careful consideration,
To ensure we help our daughters with their report on the United Nations.

We are power mommies, that is what we do,
We are power mommies through and through.

There are days when we are exhausted beyond measure,
Truth be told for us, our motivation is but a heartfelt treasure.
We purpose in our lives to be vibrant professionals and great mothers,
We can do just about anything—heck-- even go undercover!

We are power mommies, that is what we do,
We are power mommies through and through.

We can do just about anything but sometimes encouragement and compliments are few,
Whether it is guiding huge corporations or serving the homeless with our crew,
We come in all shapes and sizes and beautiful colors galore,
We are inspiring and gifted so watch out cause there is so much more!

We are power mommies, that is what we do,
We are power mommies through and through.

To be continued……….
