In 100 words or less tell us how you are a leader
I bring people together to envision a better organization, peaceful world and a significant life. Sometimes it takes leaps at a time or crawling increments but it is progress.

I am a leader because I dream big, dream possible, and work hard to realize dreams to benefit and serve others. I am a National Auxiliary Special Projects Chair and Past President, President of Home and School, Legacy Co-Chair for Local School, and volunteer liaison for initiation of afterschool programs for "at risk" children as well as National Sponsor for US Dream Academy.

As a business woman, I am also the ambassador/ majority investor in XRtainment Zone (www.Xrtainmentzone.com) a kid's fitness, health and wellness facility that makes exercise fun and gets kids moving out of their sedentary ways and can be invaluable in combating health crisis such as pediatric obesity.

Whatever organization I am involved in or present in -- be it volunteer, home, school, church, and business I am consistent in persevering and tenacious in working hard to make positive visions for the future begin and then become a success!!!

Are you on Facebook and LinkedIn?

I would like to connect with you there also. I am trying to make more friends and fans so that I can spread awareness for breast cancer during pregnancy. I was diagnosed Stage 3 in the 5th month of my pregnancy in May. My status updates on Facebook and LinkedIn are usually about my fight.

Women Rule!
Warmest welcome from a sister and friend,
Who will stand with you in spirit to the very end.
What a powerful witness you have to share,
So know that this sister will lift you up with prayers.
Be encouraged and hopeful in every way,
Feel free to whisper, sing or shout joyfully throughout the day:
Women rule!
If we band together in one clear voice,
We can crescendo together in a joyful noise.
The melody of women, who collaborate and work together,
Will send a resounding message that will last forever.
Women rule!

PS: Please feel free to grace my page with your words of wisdom, a poem, a thought or even a kind word of encouragement for all women to see. Blessings to you now and always!

I would agree with you. I think the label "at risk" is a general blanket term that isn't specific. Because we could all fit in this category--we are "at risk" from environmental issues, health, and economics. My passion is with our children. The child population I am specifically targeting are children of incarcerated parents (www.usdreamacademy.org) you will see specified the stats on this population in which we work towards breaking the cycle of violence and crime. Also, I am a major investor in XRtainment Zone (www.xrtainmentzone) that is a new innovative gym to help combat pediatric obesity. I have worked in and around my community to implement afterschool programs that help mentor children that are without positive supervision and influence. In the county, San Bernardino, CA, there are over 1500 homeless and 100% turnover rate in the public schools. It was the 3rd city in the US that had the highest rate of crime. As a citizen in the county I cannot turn my back on my neighbors but turn my efforts and passion to creating change for good. When we do nothing we all run the "risk" of hopelessness.

Sheila-A friend and I were just having a discussion on the term "at risk". We both volunteer with young girls who have been identified as such but in theory, we struggle with that label. What are your thoughts?
