Being a former high school chemistry teacher in a Chicago Public School, I value and think education is important and key in empowering students and have had the pleasure of doing so with many of my former students. My diverse background - born to immigrant parents, raised in the multi-ethnic Uptown and West Rogers Park areas of the city, and having attended the Chicago Public Schools – enables me to effortlessly relate to people and issues. The training I have received from National-Louis University allows me to appreciate the need for education to be student-centered focused and progressive. Most importantly, I believe our students deserve and retain the right to the highest quality of education.

Welcome to TWHP, I am sure you will engage with many people here. I admire Educators for they are part of the village which guide our youth to become productive citizens in the world. I believe parent should be proactive in their child's education. Teachers should make contact with parents so they will become involved if they are not.

Can you support to petition to add Judge Ann Claire Williams, Judge Sonia Sotomayor and Judge Marjorie Rendell to the president's shortlist for the US Supreme Court?

Welcome! I have been subbing in the schools to see what teachers really are up against in the classroom and I have a newfound respect for education; especially at the elementary level where it requires a lot of patience and commitment. My daughter is a freshmen in high school and we have encountered some bad teachers as well. I encourage parents to stay involved and monitor their child's progress.

Hi, Lori: Sorry to read about your defeat... it seems we may have many common campaigning experiences to share! I too was first time candidate for Town Council, in Clifton Park, NY. http://sites.google.com/site/zygmuntowiczfortowncouncil/ Congr...
