Profile Information

In 100 words or less tell us how you are a leader
My leadership abilities were apparent when at the age of 16 I quickly moved up from department store cashier to Supervisor. At the age of 19 I gave birth to my daughter. Realizing that I needed a career in order to support my daughter, I enrolled in college while working to get my GED. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science. After college I quickly realized that I was a natural Entrepreneur. Creating new businesses & making them profitable comes natural to me. Having built a variety of businesses through the years, I continuously develop new business opportunities & expand my company's list of Construction services.

Equally, if not more important to me is the desire to help children of abuse. As a survivor of sexual abuse I have a strong need (maybe an overly passionate determination) to assist victims. The moment I was told that child sex has reached the level of a #2 money making Market through Human Trafficking I became enraged. I quickly joined the fight against this horrendous crime as a Board Member of Project Meridian Foundation. One of our goals is to build "Safe Houses" for the victims. We're currently working on a Fundraising event to be held at the Vanderbilt in NY on May 14th. Human Trafficking/child sex slave is such an important issue that my company is one of the major Sponsors of the upcoming event. Though I'm a very competitive person I would love nothing better than to have other individuals, organizations, etc. show me up by sponsoring or donating silent auction items to assist us in this crucial fight.

Dear Lisa,
I'm not on this site too often, but I am glad that you have a passion for helping sexual abuse victims; I was one as a child. There are 12 step programs called SAnon@sanon.org to assist families, friends or victims of "sexaholics". We are based on Alanon's model of recovery. Some chapters has programs for teens, as this is becoming an epidemic problem in our society.
Blessings for your work,
Jean

Hi Lisa

I am in support of your mission. I saw a detailed program on the Oprah Winfrey show a while back with the Host/investigator, Lisa Ling. I also had a class which exposed this horrific night mare. Certain men have something in them which produce this behavior. Legal profiler's study the are intensely.

Lisa,

I love your dedication to safe houses. I am in the process of planning a program for girls who have been victimized by dating abuse and stalking. I would love to talk with you about the legalities that every state is facing which is why there are no safe houses for teens.

Is it really a glass ceiling or is it impenetrable Plexiglas? Is it a carefully fashioned allusion keeping us POC’s hopeful, making us believe we truly have access so we will stay in line? What has been your experience as a woman of color?

A place to explore the interchange of faith, gender and social activism. What does it mean to be a woman of faith in these times? What does our faith say about our struggles as women and creators?
