Hello Lisa! It is nice to meet a fellow entrepreneur and grant writer located here in beautiful Michigan.

I do not vote according to party preference, but rather choose to vote according the merits of those running for office. In order to do this I strive to understand the candidates, both personally and professionally, and their stance on the issues. I am having a hard time with this election as I see the draw most people have to Senator Obama, but do not understand why. If you could please take some time to discuss this with me I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance for your time. I look forward to speaking with you.

Hi, Lisa- I so appreciate your continued efforts and good wishes. Because the timing of life is so very perfect, the day after the crafting event (a disappointing attendance, despite good coverage), I went to Florida where my dad had suffered a stroke during a radiation treatment for cancer. I came back for a week and then flew down again on July 1 when he was transferred to hospice. My sister, step-mother, and I were there when he passed on July 5. I am now back in Michigan, trying to return to a routine. For the first time in more than a month I have come to my page at TWHP. Thanks for listening. Hope all is well.

Hey, Lisa- I've thought long about your thoughtful comments. I also gave you a shout-out at the MI Women Go Run conference that I attended last weekend. Here is the link to the Milford Times article that answers some of the really important questions that you had. http://www.hometownlife.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080528/NEWS11/80528033
I am excited to share the results of our first effort. Already we have a $60 donation to Community Sharing. Think good thoughts for crafters who come together for community causes.

Hi Lisa! Thanks for your sincere outreach and welcome. I respect how you put equality, inclusiveness and advocacy together as a passion...a thread for unified voices to make a difference. I look forward to learning more about you, what you do and who you are so we can make a difference in the world together. Lynn, www.lynnprice.com

Hi Lisa, I could surely use your advice! I am an inventor and have a wonderful "green product" that once I have the second prototype finished (being finished now) I need funding to make about 10 more to test. After that I have great contacts to get funding.... I am using my local factory to add jobs to my community and keep it a "made in the USA" product. The Dept. of Energy cut funds for Green inventions and I am loving doing this myself (not licensing it).... just got this last rough patch to get through for funding... any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated! You can also email me at jennymannion@yahoo.com. Thanks! Gratefully, Jenny

Lisa, that would be wonderful! Trying to get this crafting event off the ground has been such a good learning experience. If you have the chance, our web site is www.wardburklundmission.org. The O leadership challenge pushed me to learn how to use godaddy.com to create a Web site, create business cards, solicit some advice from neighborhood leaders, learn the process of renting our neighborhood school. I know that I need a non-profit status, but the cost is too steep right now to make this a 'next step' venture. My buddy and I have considered establishing a bed and breakfast in town (hotels are at least 10 miles from town) that might begin to grow our idea to reality. There is a lovely field stone church downtown Milford currently used for office space that is perfect for what I envision. I see a place for community discussions, workshops, special events. We have so many great efforts in our community but the groups are scattered and often stem from the churches. I want to branch beyond this kind of affiliation to be more inclusive - like a central point for those and additional efforts. Milford has some existing power structures that are fearful of 'new' folks and we have been warned to keep our ideas under our hats. I am trying desperately to live without fear and to follow my inner guide, so these warnings are perplexing. I would love any feedback after reading this and viewing our Web site. Thank you so much for your wisdom.

Hello Lisa,
Thank you for the Boost, I really need it after a week like this. One deaf musical genius ready to drop out because the professionals can't figure out how to help him. One pregnant 18 year old H.S. junior who has no idea what she is in for. 2 Emotional Support students whose poor choices resulted in criminal charges. One ADHD nephew who made a magnificient choice in a tough situation and still got punished my the professionals because it was easier to exclude. One emergency phone call from a frantic aunt whose family is torn about a special niece. Lots of parents who have no clue where to go for real help and a partridge in a pear tree! Thanks for giving me a smile. Daphane :)

Thank you for the kind words. The reality for me is that we are all going to die someday. My husband hates when I say that but it's the truth. I don't know if my breast cancer will return but what I do know is that I can choose to make a difference and leave a legacy of hope and courage for my daughter and for the daughters of the world.

Thanks! It looks like you're up to a lot. What types of nonprofits and other ventures have you started? I'd like to know how you've developed so many. That's great. I recently started one Envision College Now, Inc. which seeks to prepared talented low-income youths for college by helping them from middle school through high school and by helping them navigate the entire college application process. It's still in the seed/start-up stage because there is just so much that I don't know about.

Thank you for your note! It's good to hear that you're getting something new from our eblasts. If you ever have anything to add, please pass it along so we can include. Between your network and mine, we can reach a lot of Michigan women!
