In 100 words or less tell us how you are a leader
Recently I became the City Council Representative in Binghamton, NY. In being elected to this seat, I was able to make history in a community that I grew up in; I became the youngest and the first African-American woman to hold a political office in the City of Binghamton. I am also a Community Organizer with Citizen Action of NY. In my role as a community organizer, I co-founded a project with the Mayor of Binghamton entitled the "Binghamton Neighborhood Assemblies Project". Its purpose is to civically engage residents by connecting them to local and external resources to address their concerns. I have centered my life's work on community service.

Wow congratulations Lea! That is awesome. I am sure you sowed the seeds so now is your harvest.

Do you pronounce your name as Lee? I just wondering, my sister spells her name the same way. But she pronounces it as Lee. I haven't seen anyone else spell it that way.

Much success, I know the best is yet to come.

Peace & Blessings,
Deborah Hardnett

Women Rule!
Warmest welcome from a sister and friend,
Who will stand with you in spirit to the very end.
What a powerful witness you have to share,
So know that this sister will lift you up with prayers.
Be encouraged and hopeful in every way,
Feel free to whisper, sing or shout joyfully throughout the day:
Women rule!
If we band together in one clear voice,
We can crescendo together in a joyful noise.
The melody of women, who collaborate and work together,
Will send a resounding message that will last forever.
Women rule!

PS: Please feel free to grace my page with your words of wisdom, a poem, a thought or even a kind word of encouragement for all women to see. Blessings to you now and always!

Hey, Lea!
I'm sorry that we didn't have a chance to shat this past weekend because I really love your idea. I've been so inspired by food co-ops both in Minneapolis and San Francisco as models for supporting local agriculture and community activism. Best of luck to you!
