How can I fund my nonprofit, where do I turn? What resources are available? Who can help me write a grant? What is capacity building? This group will enable and empower you to find the resources and money to do it all--but you have to ASK.

Is it really a glass ceiling or is it impenetrable Plexiglas? Is it a carefully fashioned allusion keeping us POC’s hopeful, making us believe we truly have access so we will stay in line? What has been your experience as a woman of color?

In 100 words or less tell us how you are a leader
I am a leader because my mother’s mother and her grandmother before that paid a heavy price. It was through their sacrifice and beckoning that I embrace fully a calling that influences every aspect of my life. My community has recognized me as a Woman of Achievement, societal change-agent and woman of influence but I believe my greatest gift as a leader is to positively encourage and unceasingly motivate both women and men to embrace their unique gifts and utilize them in proactive ways on a day to day basis. I am Asahi, the Rising Sun, continually rising to excellence.

Wonderful Woman of Substance:

Welcome to my page! If you stopped by, please do me the honor of saying hello.

Please grace my guestbook with a word of encouragement, words of wisdom, a poem, some prose or even something you just have to get off your chest.

We are all women and WE UNDERSTAND! Can I get a witness?

Who am I?

I am Elizabeth Asahi Rising Sun Sato.

I am a woman who has faced tremendous challenge and suffering but who has also overcome insurmountable odds to do something significant in my life. I have done significant things, I am doing significant things and I have so many more significant things to do.

My Mama used to say "if you fall down, get up," "if somebody knocks you down, get up," "If you trip and cause yourself to fall, get up."

I--my fellow sisters-- have perfected the art of "getting back up."

I do not dwell in the negative so you will often find me redirecting conversation to the positive. My BFF living in DC often says “You, my friend, are a lover of truth.” Understnad that speaking the truth—sometimes gets me in to trouble.

This is an important and pivotal time in my life. It is difficult to believe I am a half-century old but on my fiftieth birthday, I decided to step out on faith and launch my own company--Rise to Excellence. I have spent a life time making other people (mostly men) successful, wealthy and significant and I finally mustered up enough courage to start my own company. I plan to utilize all of my abilities to share decade’s worth of mother wit and skills to enlighten, edify and empower nonprofits, ministries and emerging MBE/WBE businesses.

I am the mother of three incredible gentle-men, Gabriel 17, Samuel 16 and Elijah 15. (see pic above) I call them gentle-men because I want to do everything in my power and capability to raise three conscientious, compassionate and concerned young men. I want them to be active and proactive and I want them to treat women right despite what the media or their peers project.

I am now a single-parent after 14 years of marriage. It is difficult to "get back up" after divorce devastates you-- but I knew if I did not-- I would lose the opportunity to raise three conscientious boys who also have a significant contribution yet—to give to our world.

I am currently writing a book about my life experience. So-- watch out Barbara Walters--you aint seen nothing yet! Barbara spent a life-time of auditioning and while I am grateful for her courage of blazing trails-- I spent a lifetime of just trying to get access. Do ya feel me? The professional arena is not the same for women of color. Y'all talk about a "glass ceiling" well--let me share with you that for many of us, especially WOC's the ceiling has been iron clad shut! The political and economic playing field has never been level for women and even more so for women of color. Yes--we have come a long way but there still is so much to do ---not only to level the playing field but by equipping women with the tools necessary to be successful in politics, business and the social-change movement.

I love the spoken-word, poetry and prose so if you have a creative or even bodacious word to share--please by all means--SHARE IT.

I would love to network with other business owners and would be delighted to encourage other single-mothers. I suppose-- I could list all of my accomplishments but it is much more important to me--- that you see me, a woman, a mommy, a sister--just like you--- striving to be all she can be and yes-- continually striving to rise to excellence.

Warmest Regards,
Asahi

Is there a need for a Single-Parent (Mom) business/entrepreneur support system?

RISE TO EXCELLENCE

There are 82.5 million mothers in the USA. Nearly half of those mothers are now single-parents and about 10 million of those Mom’s parent children under the age of 18. Being a Mom is an incredibly wonderful and exceptional experience. However, shouldering the responsibilities of single-parenting while still trying to maintain a viable professional career-- can be next to impossible. Single Mothers come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, faith perspectives, d… Continue

Sorry to hear you have the flu...that really stinks. Have you ever tried LDM100? It works wonders. You can get it at a health food store or even online. We use it every year...start when we think we are coming down with something and then drive it away! I will not lie...it tastes nasty...made of some form of root, but it works and it helps bounce you back.

I hear you on the negativity...what is going on in this world? Craziness. Trying to keep my chin up as we struggle through for grants and implementing self sustaining measures to help with operational costs. We have hooked up with Beachbody and Greenfeet to help fundraise...we get a portion of the proceeds from sales of the health, fitness and environmentally friendly products...not a bad deal really. Great people to work with. Still going...just seem to hit a few hiccups.

Take care of yourself and get some of that LDM100! If I had some left I would send you some, but I have to run out and get more myself!

I guess that is why we are still here on this network...hopes of igniting something that will be a true benefit for women everywhere who are looking to start or expand their business operations and looking for help. I am just as baffled as you are...hoping to change that and the only way I know how is to keep at it. Seems like many just respond to beginning excitement, but do not want to put in the time to foster it along. Sad, but hoping that will change.

Glad to hear you are doing well! Is there anything I can do to help you out? You are always such a great friend, and I would like to think that I can return the favor sometime, anytime your in need just holler!

Great news to share...we received fiscal sponsorship from the Agape Foundation that will allow me to begin fundraising and then start our own 501c3 application. Working on the organizations initiative right now...was wondering if I could run it all by you and get your opinion...

Have a great day!

Hello! I see your new group...you must be a glutton for punishment! I love you my friend! I think between the two of us this is a fifth go at trying to get these women to work together...hopefully this is more successful than the last! This WHP could be such a great resource if only we would work together to use it.
How are you doing?

Hello my friend! Thank you for your encouraging words! It is coming together and I know it will continue to. We have such great plans and God says he gives us the ability to succeed we only need to accept this and give thanks and I do. I will have to update you on the organization sometime soon. Hope all is going well for you. You are such a giving person, I hope you are taking time to take care of you and enjoy life. How are you? Is there something I can do for you? You are always such a great help and support for me and I hope you know if you need something that I am here.

Have a great evening and I will talk to you soon!

Precious TWHP Sister:
Come back, come out where ever you are,
The White House Project is a forum for women leaders and stars.
There is plenty of social media but none quite like this,
A special place for women to edify, protest, lament or share in bliss.
Thinking of you all especially during my prayers today.
So I am taking a proactive moment to send blessings your way,
Life zips by quickly and exceedingly fast,
I am not quite sure if I will be here tomorrow or if my ailing heart will last.
I don’t want another moment to pass without saying to you,
How appreciative I am --thank you for being who you are--- and for all you do!
You are incredible women of courageous and noble deeds,
You have nurtured many souls and planted invaluable life-changing seeds.
May your life be anointed with abundance and happiness,
I am sending you all my love, special encouragement and my very best.
Always & Forever

Hello Asahi! How are you my friend...it has been ages since I hav talked with you. How is the exercise and healthy eating going for you? It feels like forever since I have been on here, but I am trying to pop on now and then. I have buried in trying to structure my non profit and have found myself inundated with things a bit. I wanted to pick your brain about a few things if I may...specifically fiscal sponsorship. I am working on the 501c3 number, but need to find a fiscal sponsor in the meantime just so we can continue operations. My last one closed up shop for personal reasons and well I just need to find one to use while we do the IRS thing. I cannot remember if I asked you for help on this before. If I have I apologize...anything with the IRS drives me nuts!!!

Hope things are well for you and your family! Drop me a note and catch me up on your latest...things have been crazy for me as I am sure they are for you. This economy is driving us all a little nutty I think!

Have a great day!

Hello Asahi! I wanted to play catch up and see how you are doing. I have been working on everything at once and for some reason it reminded me of you...perhaps because I know you are a crazy go getter like me!

Have a wonderful day!
