I believe that every person can affect change if they are willing to make an effort. I am teaching my children to stand up for their beliefs and make noise when necessary. There is no voice too young or too old to be heard.

Can you support to petition to add Judge Ann Claire Williams, Judge Sonia Sotomayor and Judge Marjorie Rendell to the president's shortlist for the US Supreme Court?

That is too bad because that you are supposed to look out for one another. Overall, in the past thirteen years I have found most military wives to be supportive of one another, some to be nasty, but most to be OK. How funny that wives can be that petty...if they would take one minute to realize hey we are all in the same boat and perhaps it would be better served if we all just got along then life would be a bit nicer for everyone. Does the Army have a Key Volunteer Network for the wives/families?

Glad to hear your husband will be home by Christmas. I hate when the tour is through Christmas. Sounds like you have a lot to keep you busy...I think you said you had six children that you are currently home schooling...I do not think I could do that. I am not very patient sometimes and I think I would probably last just one week. The children attend a private school here that keeps their numbers low, so the teacher to student ratio is 1:15-20 with a para-pro teacher assisting. It is nice, and the educational needs are met. The children are all sports fiends, so they each play three sports a year, except the baby of course. I did have some friends in Arizona who home schooled and enjoyed it. I still say you must have nerves of steel!

We are currently stationed in Michigan on recruiting...it is not fun, but he is off rotation. Longer hours than I have ever seen him work, keeps him away from home 3/4 of the time, but he is here, and that is what matters. We will be back to station in a year a half, and back to rotation. I do not suggest recruiting as a B-billet. It is the craziest duty I have ever seen...Patrick is more stressed here than any other duty he has done including deployments. There are actually people who do this for a living...that is unconscionable.

How do you like Kentucky? Some of my husbands Marines moved there after they got out, so we have been there a few times and liked it. For the most part we have been stationed on the west coast, and I got used to having no snow, so this is a change for us. My children were in shock the first winter, but they fell in love with playing in the snow and snowboarding, so now they are fine.

I have to tell you that you are first Army wife I have ever met. Being a Marine family you are stationed amongst other Marine and Naval families, but not really anyone else, so this is a welcome change.

Keep in touch! It is very nice to meet you.

Welcome Alesia! While checking in on Elizabeth I saw your comment about your family, and it touched my heart. My husband is an active duty Marine and I am very familiar with the whole single military mommy thing. I have four little people who depend on me twenty-four/seven, and you couple that with a daddy on a regular deployment rotation and two businesses then life gets a little crazy. I have to say that being a military wife toughens the skin a bit, but softens the soul. Definitely looking forward to my husband retiring, although I have to say that the military life has given us the ability to travel, and time for me to attend school and start a few businesses, so I cannot really complain.

Well, I just wanted to pop on and introduce myself. I pray you are all doing well and that your husband is safe.

Take care and keep in touch...we have a lot in common and it would be nice to have another military wife to chat with and get to know.

Women Rule!
Warmest welcome from a sister and friend,
Who will stand with you in spirit to the very end.
What a powerful witness you have to share,
So know that this sister will lift you up with prayers.
Be encouraged and hopeful in every way,
Feel free to whisper, sing or shout joyfully throughout the day:
Women rule!
If we band together in one clear voice,
We can crescendo together in a joyful noise.
The melody of women, who collaborate and work together,
Will send a resounding message that will last forever.
Women rule!

PS: Please feel free to grace my page with your words of wisdom, a poem, a thought or even a kind word of encouragement for all women to see. Blessings to you now and always!

Welcome! You are so right about every voice should be heard. Sometimes, I dismiss my daughter's thoughts and advice and then I realize that she has a right to her expression and thoughts. If women are silenced at home, we enter the world and workplace silenced.
