Hi All,
I am interning at the White House Project, and I was looking through the Discussion groups, and this one jumped out at me. I am 17, and of course going through the college process. I know that the comment by Yvette Simpson was made a few months ago, but I am going to be a first generation college student, and I would like to go to law school and become a lawyer. I was wondering if Yvette Simpson had any advice for me.
Thanks,
Angie

Hi. I'm 15 and I'm looking for information on how to start a non-profit organization. I've done some research and it seems like a very lengthy complicated process. Being 15, some people might think I'm too young to do anything. But I am an etremely dedicated hard- worker. I want to teach other teens about the harmful effects of self-harm and eating disorders. I've been down that road and I want to help others. I just need to know where to start. Advice=appreciated! Thanks

A couple of years ago I founded MAC Creations P.O.P. Arts Inc. (MCPA), an inner-city non-profit organization developed to address poverty related issues. The program goes into schools and communities using artistic programming to bring visual awareness to community concerns and introduce alternative conflict resolutions.

Many people are not aware of their current position or the impact certain behaviors have on their future attainments.

Once I can gain the attention of these children and young adults I want to connect them with leaders who are in their areas of interest.

Yvette,

Thanks for joining. I love your idea to focus on first-generation college students. Thanks for sharing!

Megan:

As a young woman leader, I think it is great that you have formed a group specifically for young leaders. We, as young women, do many amazing things that ultimately will impact the world around us. I am a lawyer who has decided to focus my attention on the next generation of leaders. Focusing on young people who are first-generation college students is my latest endeavor. But, I also counsel all young people who aspire to become lawyers and make a positive impact on our country and our world.

I thought I would start this group to hear about the amazing things young woman are doing!

Currently, I'm working on a website: www.sassychik.com for young woman 18-35 as a place for young women to connect, discuss, encourage and learn.

What are you doing? I'd love to hear about all the amazing things that are happening out there.
