I have to say that I agree that things have gotten odd in the Democratic game. As a Republican, I just sat back to see who the Democrats would be sending into the fray this year...I was surprised that it was not Hillary Clinton...especially since she won the popular vote. Is this not the same place we were with President Bush and Al Gore years ago when Gore lost and all we heard was how he won the popular vote and Bush was selected by the Electoral College instead of being elected by the people. This rant went on forever...with what I felt was good reason, and I am now surprised that the same Democrats who were complaining then are pretty much telling HC that she is being unreasonable to complain now. Although I would not vote for either of these Democratic Senators, I am disturbed that this is happening to HC. Part of me questions why it was OK for Gore to complain, but not for her to complain...

Regardless, I was excited to see a woman run for this office...it is so awesome to see the changes that have been made over time. My decision to not vote for her had nothing to do with her gender, but with my own beliefs as an American and as a veteran and wife of an active duty Marine who has served over four long tours in war just since 9/11.

I look forward to more women running for this office and pushing the limits that have been placed on us over the years. There is nothing we cannot do or accomplish in life and it is about time that we show this rather than verbally claim it.

It will be interesting to see what happens now......

Wow-the entire political spectrum has changed-as disappointed as I am that HC will not be running for President-history has been established. As a mom constantly on the go struggling with the same issues that HC does, all be it on a smaller scale, I am proud that we have women who are willing to step up into roles of action rather than letting things just happen to them. Of course, now that it is summer, my days are spent reading with my kids, watching my spouse garden (I'm inside in the air conditioning, he's outside and it's 90+ degrees). Referee as my daughter plays with her brother's legos...not the biggest things in the world, but important. I am also now PTA president and am planning a ribbon cutting ceremony for our new playground and becoming more involved as an activist for play (with KaBOOM!) and attended a picnic last weekend with Senator Perry Clark and Congressman John Yarmuth. So I apologize for not being vigilent on this site-but am glad we are all involved someway with something rather than just letting the days go by!

What is going on ladies?? Where are we now?

The one thing I know about the women in this network is that we wear a lot of hats. Moms, wives, students, employees, business owners, and so many more. Our lives are full, and I know that at times it does not seem as if we have time to one more thing. At times I think, what am I doing?

We came to the WHP for help; we had an idea or a company that we wanted to see become reality and we thought that the training was a good place to start or look to for that help. For those who did not get chosen, and I have not met one person yet who was, we suffered a disappointing blow, and no matter how small or big that blow was we are now faced with the question of what we will do now.

There are some great programs and trainings within this network. We are in good company with over 500 strong, talented women with such a diverse range of talents and abilities...and that can be such a huge resource for all of us. If you go on the Maximized page you will see a program in the starting phase that is taking the talents and abilities of each member and putting them to use for the good of the group. In other words we are going to take what we came here for and make it happen through the collective assistance of the group.

Are you up for the challenge? Are you still working towards making your goals and dreams a reality? Or has the excitement died down and have you found yourself caught up in the day to day living of life?

It is easy to feel discouraged and to allow that to stymie your growth. It has happened to me more than I care to remember, but I refuse to let it happen again. Not when we can make a difference together. Not when we can work together, and through our own individual talents and abilities make happen what we originally sought from the WHP training.

From the response generated from the WHP, they were not expecting as great a response as they received. With over 3000 applications...I can see how we made their choice difficult. However, I am sure they did not intend for the rest of us to just go away or forget where it is we wanted to go with our lives. There will be other trainings such as this I am sure, and in the interim we have access to other types of trainings and conferences, and we have access to the greatest resource of them all...each other.

So ask yourself...where am I now? What have I done lately? What can I do to get back on track? Find your group, get involved and get back to it. There are groups that are planning events and programs that will benefit us all...we are passed the talking stage ladies, and entering the action stage, so join in and lets see how far we can go together.

OK ladies...I did not expect for everyone to chat all day long as we have things to do, but what happened to the fire that burned in all of us at the beginning of this new venture? This week, take a look at yourself and see if you fizzled or are fueled to go farther...are you ready to stop talking about what you could do and make it happen? I hope you are. Programs are going in place to help you do just that. The training for 80 was nice, but the cold fact is that everyone left here is in the same situation they were in before the application...and I do not plan on staying...I plan on moving forward. Join me...check out the Maximize the Moment program and see where you can be six months from now. Have a great week!

Women on the move check out Maximize the Moment...I think most of you have, but if not then pop on and see what we can do for each other.
Stacy Bayton Comment by Stacy Bayton on May 13, 2008 at 11:48am
Hey ladies! Just popping on before I get wrapped up in the work week to let you all know to keep on going. We were all so excited, getting involved in a new network where we were surrounded by other mothers and working women who understood our roles, our frustrations and our desire to accomplish great things. The sad truth is that a great majority will fall off the network as time passes and the excitement of the group wears off. Stick with it! This resource was set up by the White House Project to give us a place to encourage one another and help one another succeed. Only 80 of us could get one on one assistance this year through their training, but that is not the end for us this year. You do not have to wait for next year to apply for help and training to move yourself forward. You have the option to do that now. Prepare a plan; set your sites; move ahead. Take a step forward each day and make yourself accountable. You have already taken a big step by putting yourself out there and applying for the training, joining this network even. Many of your have taken the first step to your dream; some of you have gone even farther with it, and that is great, but do not stop.

I wrote a blog on my page that talks about change and how we get stuck once in a while. Everyone does it, but it is what you choose to do about it that makes a difference.

Keep talking. Keep moving forward, and utilize each other. One standing alone is a start, but hundreds standing together is a movement. This is our movement. Make it count.

As I think back to age 16 I can honestly say that I am definately not where I thought I would be in life, but right now I can say that it is a much better place than even I imagined. A happier, more blessed place. I do not have a law degree hanging on my wall (yet), and college seems like so long ago, but I have a wonderful family, and God has given me such great blessings in life that I do not have time to regret the life I thought I would have...instead I focus on what I do have and where I want to go from here. I get the feeling from the others here that this is the general consensus...we are all going somewhere and it may not be what we intended, but we will be great no matter what! So here is to us...women on the move!

I love the title of this group - stop talking and get to doing! My friends often remark about how they have never seen a stay at hime mom accomplish so much! I am much like the little boy who was told to sit down - I may be sitting down but in my mind I am standing!

Realizing how important the women in my life were and holding them close was very helpful in my healing and growth! Women rule! I am excited to be here.... I have been an at home mom for almost 9 years now and just in the last 18 months have had my physical health back, have accomplished tons and feel unstoppable! Would love to connect with you! Gratefully, Jenny
