Awesome editorial! As the mother of a teenage daughter, I personally would never exploit my daughter if she became pregnant and open the door for public ridicule like that but I forgot....Palin doesn't support women's personal choices.

"Scary, Moe and Drilly..." I love it! Great article and even better message.

Thank you for writing and sharing this information. I recently attended a tranportation summitt where both McCain's and Obama energy policies were discussed and it is very apparent that McCain is going to keep the current policy............his plan for alternative energy is what is the current policy. Obama pushes the lever up on this issue.

In regard to Sarah Palin, I feel sorry her and doubly for her daughter as this did not have to happen and it should have not had to be exposed by the media............being forthcoming, honesty, integrity and truth is what is needed in the White House. On a side note, if Barack and Michelle would had brought a pregnant daughter on stage and presented her to the American public, this would be an entirely different conversation on the "right to choose" or a "women's personal choices" and that is a sad commentary for our country. (being seen all over the world)

It is my prayer that we understand that we are in a new day and time, we are at a crossroad in American politics. We are either going to embrace it or ignore it and become a joke in international relations and the global market place. It sorrows me to see a willing participant being used in this matter for the sake of keeping the status quo.

I will continue to pray for us all................I pray that women to do not fall prey to this tactic for continued residency in the White House.

At the end of the day the following is true:

1.Our dollar has no value,
2. Our financial insitutions are in ICU,
3. The US economy is _________,
4. We need a better and affordable educational structure to ignite innovation in our country,
5. Women do not recieve equal pay for their time, talents and skills,
6. Job creation is non-existent, and
7. Our need for U.S. based alternative energy sources is key to our future.

I think what brings the most sorrow is the fact that this entire escapade is being seen by the world. If we cannot get it right here how can we go into other countries under the premise that we are going to help them achieve democracy...........

Brilliant article. I "shared" it on my Facebook account. Hopefully you'll have even more readers as this circulates!

Thank you for saying so many of the things that have been praying on my mind as well. I firmly believe that Sarah Palin is NOT my kind of woman. You said it - many women have suffered and fought so hard for equal rights, equal pay, and equal voice in this country and she doesn't seem to be honestly behind any of it! Particularly in action if not in her recent words.

I feel so anxious about women foolishly voting for McCain/Palin simply because she's a woman and they can't see the difference between someone like her and someone like Hillary Clinton. Not all women are created equal and, while I'm just as excited to someday have a woman president as the next girl, I will NOT vote for someone who might as well have BIG OIL pasted across her forehead simply because she and I both have boobs.

As for the issues that are now being overlooked in lieu of abortion, religion and special needs babies, I have this to say: Anyone who actually believes that drilling for oil in Alaska or anywhere else in the USA will have more than the most minute impact on our dependance on foreign oil has NOT done their research and is eating the load of crap the GOP is hoping they're stupid enough to blindly open up and chew.

Interesting article Kelley! I am very concerned over this election for many reasons, the most prevalent being we are being given poor choices from which to choose from. Senator McCain is qualified to be President, but Gov. Palin is not ready to be President yet and as VP she has to be ready from day one. Senator Obama is no more ready to be President than Gov. Palin, but his VP is. What is the sense in all this mess?

I think we need to demand a recall and ask Congress to stop fighting long enough to put their best forward! Apparently they forgot that the candidates need to be experienced and qualified. Education is also a must, but the first two are most important.

Yes, Stacy, I know what you mean. My favorite slogan these days is a bumper sticker that says "Don't blame me, I voted for Hillary!"

That said, I am now strongly in the Obama camp for several reasons:

1) The platform of The Democratic Party will represent the changes we need: A responsible pull out from Iraq, an end to all this crazy supply side economics and deficit spending, (*remember we had a surplus under Clinton) and a strong focus on the development of alternative energy.

2) The Democratic Party promotes woman friendly policies: equal pay for equal work, The Lilly Ledbetter Act, paid sick days and maternity leave laws, and a womans right to control her own fertility.

3) Education reform - public school funding and affordable college tuition are key to our future. The current administration got an F on that one.

Quite frankly, The Republican Party needs to be put in a little time out. They have just done too much damage for us to even consider keeping them in charge. let's give those poor conservatives a rest- about four to eight years to regroup- and find some fresh faces to reorganize their party and review their values. The current crop is rotten. Even members of their upper levels of leadership are saying things like "I'm not a Republican, I'm a Conservative.' and "This administration does not represent true Conservative Principles of small government and low taxes...they are almost socialist in their big government policies."

The idea that McCain represents "Change" is a joke. He will caucus with and vote with the good ol boyz of the Republican Party he has been friends with his entire life. He will protect Big Oil, and keep us going down the same road to ruin Bush has us on right now.

We can not afford four more years of the McSAME.

I wish I had faith in any of them at this point, but the fact is that I have watched a Democratic Congress go even farther into the slump over the past four years, so they are all equally as bad and all of them need to go. As for this election, you can't tell me that Congress does not have any experienced, knowledgeable people that are worth bringing into the fray?? Senator Clinton aside...where are the experienced individuals?? If this is the best they have to offer then we need to scrap them all and start again.

As for Obama...I just do not believe he can do the job...no more than I think Gov. Palin can. McCain is not such a bad guy, or should I say he did not used to be. I am quite disappointed by McCain throughout this political race against Obama as it appears that he agrees too much with those who he opposed within the party. He has been known as the most liberal member, someone who fought for what he stood for without worry of whom he would offend, and now I wonder where that man has gone. I lived in Arizona for over ten years....McCain was the most hated of Republicans and he thrived on that...oftentimes siding with Democrats over his own party. I do have to say that if anyone can bring the two parties together, McCain has more of a chance of doing this than Obama. I have the same problem with Biden...he is known as the watchdog of the Constitution, but now he is just not the same. I do not like how they allow the 'race' to change them. I understand why they feel it is necessary, I just wish they would run as themselves and not as who their party wants them to be.

Regardless of who wins this election...the problem is deeper than the one position...Congress ultimately is the problem and has been for years and years. Both parties are full of good old boys more interested in lining their pockets than serving the people who placed them in office, and they all need to go. This bailout is just another example of the junk they have dished on us for so long. Tell me this, how we can go from 3 pages that define things that need to be done to solve the immediate problems to hundreds of pages full of pork barrel spending that should no even be a part of the discussion. We need to be addressing possible solutions, but all they are doing is adding more and more junk to the bill and fighting about getting it passed. The Democrats blame the Republicans and vice versa...they are all to blame and they need to buck up and do the job they were elected to do or they need to go!!!! I am sure there are enough Americans who can step up and do a much better job. Secondly, I think we need to take these positions back to the times of our for fathers...they were elected, but not technically paid for the position. Perhaps if they lived like the people they served they would do a better job of representation!

You are doing a great job Kelley. I enjoyed the article, and although my conservative brain says that has to be wrong...I have decided that it is time to put that all behind us and just seek the truth. For the last seven years I have decided that I will judge each candidate on the issues and not on which party they sit upon...otherwise we will get the same old junk over and over again. Keep up the good work! I look forward to more of your articles!
