You Go Anitra!!! We are here for you!! Believe in yourself, take advice but that doesn't necessarily mean you need to use it.

One thing I have already learned - I did not run for office to make new friends. I have friends. In the political world I have collegues and professional partnerships but never friends. (which is sad, very sad, but after pulling several knives from my back, it is true.) But my 10mos in office I have had more fun learning, getting input from the citizens of my city, and looking forward to a challenging and educational 4 years in office.

And remember, your past experiences, education, and wisdom is just as valuable as those around you and don't let anyone take that away from you!!

Great advice and best of luck and blessings in your new position. Valerie

Hello Laurie! Thank you for the encouraging words of wisdom. I definitely needed that! I am learning that my when it comes to politics, my friends have different viewpoints, and I am ok with that. I am standing firm behind my political beliefs. I want what is best for Cincinnati, and the citizens here. I will definitely reach out to you throughout the campaign. Thanks again!

Hi, All!

I haven't logged on in awhile. I lost my full-time position in January due to the economy, so I have been concentrating on finding another one. I have an interview tonight, so keep your fingers crossed!

I am running for re-election as the President/Vice-Mayor of Cheviot, OH. Rachel is my campaign manager again and is organizing my spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Sunday. She was appointed Clerk of Council in February and is doing a great job which was commended by citizens at the last council meeting. She may run for a council seat herself in 2 years.

Hello! I am running for Dearborn City Council. I am actually a write-in candidate because I didn't meet the 1-year residency requirement at the petition filing deadline (deadline was 5/12 and I became a resident for a year on 6/7!). There are 7 council positions and 25 people will appear on the ballot, making me the 26th candidate! This is a huge turnout of candidates for this election. The primary is just 7 weeks away, on August 4th and the top 14 will go through to November. I appreciate any ideas or help that you may want to offer up.

My website is www.kristyn4council.com and my blog is www.kristyn4council.wordpress.com.

Thanks!

Hello Ladies,

I am so excited about running. I am running for City of East Point, GA (located next to Atlanta, GA) City Council. My opponents are two men (one is the incumbent and the other lives in the community). I believe that I am able to bring fresh ideas and that I can help move the city forward. I really need assistance with crafting my message and issue statements. Any help with fundraising and canvassing would be welcomed as well.

The election is Nov 3, 2009.

Thank you,
Sharonda

Hello all!

My name is Lori Bush, and I just ran for office (my very first time). Unfortunately, though. I just found this great resource.

As a first time candidate, I think I did pretty well. I ran against a 10 year incumbent, and forced a runoff. Unfortunately, I didn't win this week, about 250 votes separated us, in the end. (About 30,000 registered voters in our district.)

My website is at: www.LoriForCary.org :

I tried to leverage technology to reduce the costs, used friends and volunteers for my campaign team, and did my best to canvass and get the message out.

I hope to learn from this group, and I'm happy to help anyone that might be interested in any of our experiences. :-)

Thanks and I'm glad to have joined this exceptional team!!!

Lori

Hello Kelley and Fellow Runners,

My name is Star Johnson. I am a first time runner, and I will provide a well needed representation of the average Ohioan as a state senator. I am currently running for Ohio Senate 3rd Distrct seat for the 2010 election. This will be an open seat, that was previously held by a republican. My primary will be May 5, 2010 and general election will be held in November. My fellow go runners I truly need help with fundraising. Do to the lack of raised monies, I have had to resort mainly to e-marketing to get my name out there. I am in dire need of volunteers, and you don't have to live in Ohio to help. Thanks in advance.

We had a successful campaign. I was re-elected President of Cheviot (OH) City Council/Vice Mayor by a large margin 62%-38%. Getting out there early and knocking on every door in the city paid off. I felt more confident this time in speaking to the citizens and standing on my record. Monthly articles I submitted to the local press about city government were probably my most effective means of reaching the citizens.

Hi

My name is Melinda Gopher--I am a paralegal running for the U.S. House from Missoula, Montana. We have one seat in the House--making the district I am running in the largest Congressional district in the United States. I am a Native American from the Ojibwe tribe; and adopted by the Blackfeet Tribe of Montana. I am attempting to shatter a glass ceiling that has existed for over 200 years of our history---there has yet to be a Native American woman to serve in Congress. I am attempting history where a handful of woman have previously strived for--but fell short. That being said, like most women-- I need access to women contributors, major contributors, and sound campaign management, strategy development for future success! I am open to suggestions and I welcome all help! I also think there needs more recruitment of women elected officials, and public figures, entertainers, etc., to campaign for those of us attempting to get to the halls of DC. I certainly could use help attracting their attention and help. Their help would be great!

I am working in a document about unemployment and the economic crisis. I am sure we have to reorganize the marketing strategies and reinvent our economy.
